We've been married for almost 5 years, and just recently had our first child, Greyson James. He's stolen our hearts! Although we love adventures, we're homebodies at heart and love cuddling on the couch for a good Netflix binge. Scroll down to learn more!
P.S. In case you're wondering how to pronounce our last name, here's how you say it!
HE WAS A JUNIOR IN COLLEGE,
and I was in my first year. I had a boyfriend, and he was warned that dating a freshman wasn’t a great idea. Our mutual friends teased us and called me "his favorite".
Sophomore year I no longer had a boyfriend and he realized I was no longer a freshman. He told me we should date. I said no. He said it again, and I said "okay". 6 months later he proposed and I said "YES!" My friends thought we were crazy but I didn't have a doubt in my mind he was my forever.
IT TAKES A LOT TO SURPRISE ME.
Ask my mom. She'll tell you I've been nosy my entire life (oops - working on that). So although we had talked about getting married and had even looked at rings, it was a pretty big deal that I had NO idea a proposal was coming when it did.
Rose petals and candles formed a path to a small table illuminated with fairy lights. On top sat a small box. Even after seeing all of that, I still didn't know what was happening until he got down on one knee. The whole night was perfect.
AFTER LOOKING AT VENUES IN FLORIDA,
we finally decided to get married in the place that I grew up: my parents' backyard in Zionsville, Pennsylvania.
It was one of the best day of our lives - 60 of our closest friends and family members that lived across several states gathered together in one place to celebrate with us! It was so special!
After the wedding, we flew back to Florida for our honeymoon on the beautiful Sanibel Island!
AFTER THE WEDDING,
I moved into Michael's apartment south of West Palm Beach. I still had one more semester of school left at Palm Beach Atlantic University (where we met!). But after I graduated, we moved up to Jacksonville and built our first home!
I began my photography business, and Michael soon joined me. Weddings allowed us to travel - France, California, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee were just a few of our destinations! Then we started talking about babies...
WE ALWAYS KNEW WE WANTED TO BE PARENTS.
In fact, that desire was one of the first things that really attracted us to one another. But after over a year of trying, we finally decided to see a doctor.
I found out that I had PCOS - a condition that would make it difficult (but not impossible) to become pregnant. For the next 2 years, we went to appointment after appointment, and finally ended up at a specialist. I took all kinds of medications. Finally, in April of 2016, we got a POSITIVE pregnancy test!!
WE COULDN'T BELIEVE IT.
It was the best moment of our lives up until that point. I was shaking, and we were both crying. (You can read more of our story here). The next 9 months were an amazing journey. Through the sickness, the exhaustion, and everything else that comes with pregnancy, we were just SO happy.
At 6:00am on January 2nd, I woke up to my water breaking. Greyson James was born the next day, January 3rd, at 2:20 pm. It was the new best moment of our lives!
IT'S HARD TO DESCRIBE OUR NEW ROLE AS PARENTS.
Although it of course has it's challenges (sleep deprivation is a real thing, you guys!), parenthood is the absolute best. It's still so hard to believe that this little boy is OURS. We love him to pieces.
We can't wait for the adventures to come. If you're a fan of LOTS of cute baby pictures, follow us on our personal Instagram account: @TheCibenes
There will probably be an overabundance of exclamation marks (and maybe smiley faces) in any e-mail you receive from me. I promise I'm not yelling at you - I'm just excited!
Sometimes I try to restrain myself...but it's hard! (See?!)
I'm obsessed with flowers. We have fresh blooms in our house whenever possible! My favorites are tulips and peonies, and I always pick up eucalyptus whenever I'm at Trader Joe's!
You'll also see lots of detail shots featuring florals in our blog posts. I just can't get enough!!
Having grown up in eastern Pennsylvania, I'm a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan. Whenever they're playing, you'll find me sitting on the couch with my dad, probably yelling at the TV!
And don't worry, if you're a Cowboys, Giants, or Redskins fan, we can still be friends ;)
Lists upon lists upon lists...I couldn't function without them!
I absolutely love making lists for Target. But let's be real, it's impossible to ONLY get what's on the list when you're going to Target. That dollar section gets me every time...
When he wakes up in the morning, he stretches and then smiles so big that his eyes almost close and his shoulders raise up. It's the absolute cutest!!
What diet?? There's never a reason to say no to a milkshake.
The best is cookies 'n' cream - double cookies!
When I was about 12, I got the chance to "fly" a small training plane. I've dreamt of getting my pilot's license ever since.
I've also built remote control airplanes from scratch - and may have gotten a few of them stuck in a tree or two.
For some reason I find these purely entertaining instead of terrifying. Bri is quite the opposite and usually sees more of her hands than the movie!
I've been working towards building a garage workshop ever since building our coffee table with only a handsaw and a drill in our 2 bedroom apartment when we were first married.
My most recent project was building the shelves Bri was envisioning for Greyson's nursery.
There are so many things I love about him, but his stretches are one of my favorites. He lifts his arms up above his head, arches his back, pulls his feet up and holds the position for sometimes 10 seconds. It's pretty adorable.
